I won’t speak for all liberals, but I’d like to see a future where it isn’t a big deal for a woman in full modesty garb to sit next to a drag queen in NYC. It’s become a bit of a sensation, but her and I were just existing. The freedom to simply be yourself in a sea of people who aren’t like you is a freedom we all deserve.
The central irony is that this isn’t some hypothetical future–it’s just present day reality. This is a picture of two ordinary people going about their normal lives despite how haters want to politicize it lmao. So the underlying message is not “future liberals want” it’s “people conservatives want to eradicate”

its like a real life version of that children’s song with the magic bridge that you had to dance across
Highlights:
–all the old people –one dude who starts doing the Cotton-Eye Joe and has the steps on lock –quinceañera girl with a dress bigger than the circle –lots of kids but particularly the dude who’s doing the helicopter with his little girl –an entire section of Millennials doing dance moves I recognize, oh the nostalgia
thinking about nancy wheeler being a gun wielder. how in combat, she has to make sure that her back is always to her friends. how she slotted a gun into her hand and as an audience member, you just knew it felt right. you could see it. how, in combat, she has to keep every sense on a live wire to make sure that she sends a deadly projectile into beasts only, has to keep a map of everyone’s exact location in real time. has to choose and choose correctly every single time because the microsecond between pulling the trigger and not could mean life or death, both ways. she could pull and kill, and kill wrong, or she could not pull and be killed or watch someone die. again.
nancy is a perfectionist because she’s a gun wielder and she’s a gun wielder because she’s a perfectionist but the lines between that and holding herself to impossible standards has blurred to nothing. meaning since the pilot, since her first character arc, she has placed the world on her own shoulders because the second she chose “wrong,” her friend died. keep your finger off of the trigger until the last moment. always assume a gun is loaded. don’t point a gun at anything you’re not intending to shoot at. steady, inhale, fire, exhale.
